FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What exactly is Microblading?

Microblading is also known as: microstroking, micropigmentation, eyebrow embroidery, eyebrow feathering and 3D eyebrows. Although the names differ, the procedure is the same.

Microblading is a cutting-edge method of permanent makeup designed to enhance the eyebrows, it involves a certified and licensed microblading artist using a handheld tool with a very fine micro-needle grouping to draw individual hairs, creating the illusion of full and perfectly shaped beautiful eyebrows.

How long does the process take?

Usually the process of Microblading, Microshading, Nano Strokes or Powder Brows take around 2-3 hours the first session, it includes a personalized eyebrow design according to the client’s face trying to accomplish the most natural look possible.

The second session takes around 1-2 hours and it’s done after 4-6 weeks from the 1st session. In this touch up session, more pigment will be applied to enhance the color.

Why do I have to get a touch up?

The purpose of the touch up is to correct all imperfections that may have emerged during the healing process, like sparse patches or some strokes disappearing, so there’s some more additional microblading. i’ts done 6-10 weeks from the initial process, depending on the skin. (Sensitive skins must wait at least 8weeks)

How long does the process of semi-permanent makeup take to heal?

The healing process differs from person to person and depends on several factors. It takes on average 4-6 weeks

Is the process painful?

The process can be somewhat painful, but the level of pain you may feel depend on your own natural pain tolerance, it’s very common for the area to feel bruised or tender for about a day following a semi-permanent makeup procedure.

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading can last anywhere from 18 to 30 months. In general, it requires touch-ups once or twice a year.

Are there any pre and post care instructions?

YES, as pre-care instructions you need to:

  • Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.
  • No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before procedure.
  • Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.
  • No brow waxing, tinting, microdermabrasion or chemical peels one week before.
  • Discontinue Retin-A 4 Weeks Prior.
  • Do not use AHA skincare products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure.
  • No Botox around the brow area 2 weeks prior.

Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

As post-care instructions you need to:

  • Do not touch brows or surrounding area for 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours keep the brow area clean by using a gentle fragrance-free cleanser and water with freshly washed hands morning and night (2x/day). Do not use a washcloth or sponge and clean area by moving in the direction of the hair growth.
  • Allow eyebrows to air dry before applying a thin layer of Primp’s special aftercare serum.
  • Apply a very thin layer of the aftercare serum given (for the amount of days recommended by your artist) with freshly washed hands or a Q tip. <<Do not apply Vaseline, Petrolium, A & D ointments or Bepanthen to the area as the risk of infection is very high.
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, pool (chlorine is irritating), sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.
  • Avoid physical effort, gym and any other activity that may cause excessive sweating for at least 5 and up to 14 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
  • NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for two weeks.
  • NO Botox around the brow area for two weeks after.
  • NO facials, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
  • After 14 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading. (At least SPF 30, if not 50)
  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.
  • Avoid Retin-A close to brow area.

Please note: Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be anywhere from 20-40% darker and bolder in color and 15% thicker. The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating.

Who should NOT have a semi-permanent makeup procedure?

  • Anyone who’s pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Anyone with keloid scars- We do not want to touch keloids because they may have scar tissue built up beneath the skin and do not want to take that risk of cutting that area of the skin.
  • Anyone with autoimmune diseases – Due to your compromised skin health.
  • Anyone with Blood Thinner or Have Bleeding Disorders
  • On Accutane Within The Last Year – Accutane extremely thins the top layer of your skin. We want your skin to be at its normal healthy self during microblading and also so it can heal properly.
  • Botox Within the Last 2 Weeks – If you’ve gotten botox near your brow area it is best to wait the 2 weeks before getting microblading because that is when the injected substances have fully settled on the facial muscles.
  • Stop Retinol/Retina 1 Week Prior
  • Sunburnt Or Have Dermatitis – You must be completely healed from both of these before your appointment because if not then your skin will flake, resulting in loss of pigment from microblading.
  • Chemical Peels, Facials, Microdermabrasion 4 Weeks Prior – These are to be avoided because the outer layer of the skin is removed. Removing the top layer of the skin will result in loss of pigment in your new microbladed strokes.
  • Anyone allergic To Nickel, Lidocaine, Epinephrine
